The purpose of a social system is to progressively meet the needs of its people. These needs are usually economic in their orientation originally, the need to survive. They do this by progressively solving problems presented to them throughout the different generations. The level of effectiveness with which these problems are solved is determined by how sophisticated and efficient the sociopolitical structures of the society is. How power is distributed, principles of equity and fairness etc.

The effectiveness and efficiency of these systems is self evident in the growth and evolution of the society itself, as when the society has succeeded in meeting the biological needs of society, by basically ensuring that basic resources for survival and living is available to all, while excess or surplus resources are given to the most productive in the society, the problems or questions of society changes from meeting purely economic and biological needs to more aspirational needs like social, self actualization and other philosophical and transcendental questions. It becomes important to enquire into things like eternal life and how to perpetuate one's self. That is when you start seeing things like great monuments, portraits of great leaders, great stories and legends created for great figures that define civilizations and the likes. If a civilization have things like these, it is evident that there are elements of greatness in the society or civilization, as a result of an effective organization of society and so elements of these should be emulated. This is the reason why Egypt had so many monuments, it was a very prosperous society. Alot for us to learn.

Thank you.
